Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What is a free walking tour?
For most tours you pay in advance. Only later do you find out whether you thought it was worth it. We turned the concept around. First we give you the tour and then at the end you get to decide what you think it was worth.
The free walking tour concept has gained popularity around the world. You can find them from Los Angeles to Tokyo and from Moscow to Cape Town.
There are also free walking tours in a number of other Dutch cities and towns. Below you find a list of free walking tours in other Dutch cities and towns:
Do I need to make a reservation?
We strongly recommend you make a reservation. Although sometimes you can join the tour at the last moment, we do unfortunately have to turn people away if too many people show up. The only way to make sure that doesn't happen to you is by making a reservation.
Where does the tour depart from? And at what time?
All tours (except for private tours) depart from Dam Square in front of the Royal Palace. Click here for the exact location.
The Awe-inspiring Amsterdam Free Walking Tour (on this history and the culture of the city) leaves every working day at 11am. The Sinful City Free Walking Tour (of the Red Light District) leaves every working day at 2pm.
